Confess is being designed for honest, anonymous conversation between adults. Anonymity can help people speak openly, but it never excuses harmful or illegal behaviour.

Built around safer participation

• Adults only: Confess is intended solely for people aged 18 or over.
• Protect real identities: people must not reveal another person's private information or pressure anyone to identify themselves.
• Report and block: in-app reporting and blocking are planned as core controls.
• Moderation: reported and potentially harmful content may be reviewed and removed, and accounts may be restricted or closed.
• Privacy reminders: users will be warned not to include names, addresses, workplaces, phone numbers, or other identifying details in a confession.

Not permitted

Threats, targeted harassment, doxxing, exploitation, non-consensual intimate content, hate, scams, content involving minors, and other illegal content will not be permitted. The fuller draft rules are in the Community Guidelines.

When someone may be in immediate danger

Confess is not an emergency service. If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact the emergency services. In Ireland, call 112 or 999. Do not rely on a report to Confess for urgent help.
