Clear information about the technologies that keep this website working.

1. About this policy
This policy applies to confess.ie, including its contact and reporting forms. It explains cookies and similar technologies used when you visit the website. The legal operator, contact details and broader information about personal data are set out in our Privacy Policy.
The Confess app has its own account and authentication features, described in the Privacy Policy. This website cookie list does not describe every technology used inside the app.
2. What cookies and similar technologies do
A cookie is a small piece of information a website stores in your browser. Cookies can remember a setting or help a security service recognise that a browser has passed a check. Some expire when a browsing session ends; others remain until their expiry time or until you delete them.
Local storage, session storage and other browser technologies can also store or access information. A technology does not have to be called a cookie for privacy rules to apply.
3. What this website uses
This website does not use advertising cookies, audience-analytics scripts, social-media tracking pixels or embedded social-media feeds. Website pages can be read without signing in. The contact and reporting forms do not save the contents of your message in cookies, local storage or session storage.
No cookies are set by this website or its enabled security configuration.
Information entered into a form is held in the page while you complete it and is sent to our server when you select Send and the submission passes validation. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. Retention of submitted messages and reports is explained in the Privacy Policy; it is separate from cookie expiry.
4. Security checks
Cloudflare hosts and protects the website. The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to help distinguish legitimate submissions from automated abuse. A security check can process technical information such as browser characteristics, IP address and challenge results.
Turnstile returns a short-lived verification token that our server checks before accepting a submission. The token can be used once and expires after five minutes. It is separate from a browser cookie. Cloudflare also publishes information about its security technologies in its cookie documentation.
Security checks are used to protect the service, rather than to personalise advertising. Blocking technologies needed for a security check can prevent a form from being submitted.
5. Your choices
You can use your browser’s privacy settings to view, delete or block cookies and site data. Settings usually appear under Privacy, Security or Site settings. Your browser’s help pages explain the available controls.
Deleting browser data does not delete an enquiry or report already submitted to us. To exercise your rights over that information, use Contact and choose “Privacy or my data”.
We rely on the strictly necessary exception only for technologies needed to provide a service you request or transmit a communication. We do not treat continued browsing, silence or acceptance of the Terms as consent to optional tracking. If we introduce non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will explain them and ask for your consent before they operate. You will be able to refuse them and withdraw consent as easily as you gave it.
6. Other websites
Following an external link, including the OceanByte link in our footer, takes you to a separate website. That website’s own cookie and privacy information applies. An external link is not an embedded tracker on this website.
7. Questions and updates
For questions about cookies or your personal information, email privacy@oceanbyte.ie or use our contact form. You can also contact the Irish Data Protection Commission about your rights.
We update this policy when the technologies we use or the applicable requirements change. The effective date is shown at the top. Material changes that require consent will not take effect for optional technologies until the required choice has been offered.
